Former Andreessen Horowitz Partner, Mark Cranney, Joins TEAL’s Board of Directors to Accelerate Growth

Mark Cranney has led three companies to Unicorn status in his career as an operator and is credited with developing Andreessen Horowitz’s go-to-market network.

TEAL, a patented and wholly-owned IoT networking platform, announced today that Mark Cranney has been appointed to its Board of Directors. “I’m excited to join Teal and have the opportunity to work with such a dynamic duo of founders in Robby and Michael to help build and scale the organization to serve many industry verticals that need flexibility and control over their IoT deployments,” said Mark Cranney.

Cranney has successfully led three high-growth companies to Unicorn status in his career as an operator and is credited with developing Andreessen Horowitz’s go-to-market network.

Most recently, Mark was the COO at Skydio, an enterprise and consumer drone company, where he led all operations and go-to-market for the company. Prior to Skydio, he was COO at Signalfx (acquired by Splunk). Cranney was the founding operating partner of Andreessen Horowitz’s (a16z) market development team, where he helped hundreds of portfolio companies scale and accelerate their time-to-market by creating thousands of business-building opportunities. He also led worldwide-field operations for Opsware (acquired by Hewlett-Packard) and Aster Data Systems (acquired by Teradata). Cranney was recruited to Silicon Valley by Ben Horowitz and Marc Andreessen to join Opsware after being vice president of Americas at Boston-based Parametric Technology Corporation. His company-building skills at Opsware are well chronicled in two of Ben Horowitz’s books: The Hard Thing About Hard Things and What You Do Is Who You Are.

“Mark’s operational expertise, go-to-market knowledge, and understanding of how to scale high-growth organizations are second to none. Mark sees the same vision for the Internet of Things (IoT) as we do at TEAL, and his accomplishments in tech speak for themselves. We are thrilled to have Mark join our Board and look forward to working very closely together,” said Robby Hamblet, CEO and President at Teal.

Teal announced a $10.8M funding round in March 2022, citing 10X recurring revenue growth within 10 months.

Mark joins Teal’s Board of Directors that includes Glenn Lurie, Former President and CEO of AT&T Mobility and Consumer Operations; Mike Self, General Partner at StageDotO Ventures; Robby Hamblet, CEO and President at Teal; and Michael Johnston, CBO and Co-Founder at Teal.
