TEAL Launches PLUS+, an eSIM Platform for Mobile Network Operators
TEAL PLUS+ provides a simple, secure, and efficient way for MNOs to manage and deploy eSIMs globally.
SEATTLE, February 28, 2023 (Newswire.com) – Teal, a global network connectivity platform based in Seattle, WA, today announced the launch of their first eSIM solution built specifically for Mobile Network Operators (MNOs). PLUS+ is a unique cloud native SMDP+ solution designed to accelerate MNO and MVNO carrier eSIM strategy.
For the past several years, PLUS+ has been quietly learning from and supporting private LTE network deployments from CBRS alliance members, but with a full security certification; it is now ready to support the large consumer-focused public cellular network carriers.
PLUS+ provides a fresh take on the traditional legacy platforms provided by the small list of other SMDP+ vendors. From the ground up, it was designed to provide self-service functionality for MNO eSIM, SIM, and iSIM teams. This has the benefit of ultimate control and flexibility while also delivering profile and data generation services without any setup fees at around half the operating costs of competitive solutions. The innovative commercial structure of PLUS+ is expected to measurably increase eSIM adoption worldwide.
“This is all about empowering the 750 underserved mobile networks that have struggled to deliver eSIM services to both consumer and IoT use cases. Chip manufacturers that pretend to be software companies don’t understand the hurdles involved with launching an eSIM-ready 4G, 5G, or even 6G network. We are here to solve all of that for the network operators,” said Robert Hamblet, Co-Founder and CEO of Teal.
Teal is the first U.S. headquartered company to receive certification for the GSMA’s Security Accreditation Scheme for Subscription Manager Data Preparation Plus (SMDP+). This certifies that Teal’s eSIM technology meets or exceeds the latest security requirements as set forth by the GSMA. The GSMA is an industry organization made up of more than 750 mobile operators worldwide and 400 additional companies with the goal of advancing mobile technology. The SMDP+ certification is only granted to platforms that meet the highest standards of security and functionality.
Teal is well-positioned to become a leading player in the rapidly growing global eSIM market, and with this SMDP+ certification, the company is one of only a handful of companies with a distinct eSIM platform codebase.
Teal CBO and Co-Founder, Michael Johnston, said, “We are proud of our team here at Teal who have completed this multi-year effort of building a leading-edge technology platform. We have passed one of the most stringent security certifications in the world given by the GSMA. We see this product launch as the start of a new acceleration in 5G subscriber activity.”
Teal’s patented technology connects any device onto any data network worldwide. With more network operator agreements than any other connectivity provider, Teal gives businesses everywhere the flexibility and control to remotely switch between networks, ensuring the highest level of reliability and performance for any internet of things (IoT) deployment. Teal supports applications across many industries including mobility, robotics, drones, industrial IoT, healthcare, and LTE/5G network operators.
